PROSTChoice™ with LOM™ Multi-Carotenoids
PROSTChoice™ is the first commercial product in Canada to utilize the patented LOM™ formula, which contains a unique mixture of carotenoids, including Lycopene. While Lycopene is commonly used as a supplement to protect the prostate gland, the FDA has determined that Lycopene in isolation does not have the benefits that it does when in its natural state (in stewed tomatoes for example). When approached to allow health claims regarding Lycopene and risk reduction for some forms of cancer, the FDA concluded: "there was no credible evidence to support an association between Lycopene intake and a reduced risk of prostate, and other cancers". They found that intake of cooked tomatoes was inversely associated with prostate cancer risk, but found no relationship between intake of raw tomatoes and prostate cancer risk. Unlike isolated or synthesized Lycopene, the LOM™ product contains a naturally extracted family of carotenoids, complex in structure, like whole foods. This is why it can do what Lycopene alone cannot do.
The LOM™ formula has been successfully treating a variety of conditions for nearly ten years in Asia, Europe and the USA. It has been scientifically proven effective through many animal and cellular tests, and human studies. The science on LOM™ is so solid that in September 2008 it was listed in the American 2009 Physicians’ Desk Reference. Currently this product is undergoing FDA approved Phase III clinical trials on patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
These Multi-Carotenoids are clinically proven to both prevent and treat BPH, working even when Saw Palmetto supplements have failed. Furthermore, in an American clinical trial on prostate cancer patients, after 3 weeks of supplementing with LOM™ Multi-Carotenoids (30mg/day), before prostatectomy, PSA levels in the supplementation group decreased by 18%, while in the placebo group they increased by 14%. There is only one other natural substance, to my knowledge, that can lower PSA levels and this is an uncommon specific rye pollen extract.
Multi-Carotenoids have also been shown to be effective for treating high cholesterol levels. A 2007 animal study concluded that LOM™ showed an increase of 28.6% in HDL (“good” cholesterol) levels. It also dramatically reduced total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL (“bad” cholesterol) levels. As well, LOM™ Multi-Carotenoids have proven to produce a powerful antioxidant effect, effectively raising blood levels of SOD (Superoxide Dismutase), CAT (Catalase) and GSH (Glutathione Peroxidase).
Other clinically proven benefits of LOM™ include treating Hypertension and Female Urinary Incontinence. A clinical study done on hypertension patients concluded that after 8 weeks of supplementation, with this product, both systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased appreciably. Feedback from gynecologists showed immediate response from women who experienced urinary incontinence or frequent urination, especially at night, due to the prolapse of bladder and uterus. As well it appears to inhibit cancer cell proliferation, based on in vitro studies.
The specially developed plants used to extract these nutrients are grown in the USA under strict conditions, and are certified to be GMO and contaminate free. The extraction process is patented and ensures the presence of all the bioactive phytonutrients. LOM™ has no known toxicity or side effects
LOM™ is an oil-based product and so is most efficiently absorbed following a meal that contains some fat. Unfortunately a meal high in fiber can steal some of the nutrients from this formula so it is recommended that the capsules be taken after lunch and/or dinner, since people usually have more fiber with breakfast (cereals and oats). If all meals are high fiber then take the product 2 hours after eating.
